Its very loud but awesome beyond the noise. Different styles and creativity in building. We added more track components for a hot wheel city. This is Better than the other hot wheels ID smart track build.Great gift for my grandson! He loved it but it doesn't stay together very well but okay for price.Bought this for my grandson for Christmas in addition to a larger set to add with it. Not a huge set definitely needs additional pieces. It looked sick when I ordered it. But it's really gimmicky and kinda boring. The kids didn't care for it either.Out of all the newer 2016 Track Builder Releases, this in my opinion, is the best! There are multiple ways of setting up various layouts which the manual suggests, and good variety of pieces, though straight track are lacking as usual. The star of this show is no doubt, the duel booster! It's very "next gen-ish", as it looks nothing like boosters that have been around forever. What makes it unique is the way it is set up. There's your usual battery-eating power brick (this uses 4 D cells), but both boosters are independent from the power source. They simply plug in to the battery block, so you can place them away from each other, giving your layout twice the power to shoot your cars around. You don't have to use both boosters, but why wouldn't you? What's more interesting is, the booster's rollers are now vertical, instead of horizontal. When a HW car enters, a single rubber roller grips it from above and launches it out, and both boosters pack a punch! I only wish the connecting cords could have been longer, as you can't place the boosters too far way from each other. The white support towers are one of the newer pieces found in this series, as they can be placed horizontally or vertically to support tracks. Each tower offers a number of node connections, so tracks can be connected at various heights using the pivot points. The pivot points are brilliant little button-like gizmos that slide easily slide into any track. Now when you snap your track into any of the towers, you can actually rotate and angle your track with much freedom. All in all, it's a very roller coaster-style approach to track building, and a good one at that.As far as the layouts go, there are a few duel shoot outs as in...gravity drop to booster, through loop, then off to space (hopefully, a carpeted one). These are short lived, 2 second runs but kids will have fun launching their cars simultaneously (this set only comes with one car of course). One interest layout features a continuous run where both boosters work together to continuously shoot your cars through a figure 8 course. Cars zoom around and eventually crash, so it becomes a survivor game. The sample courses won't hold a child's attention for long periods, but they can experiment on their own, and combine the pieces with other sets. And finally, the box. The new, thicker cardboard box also doubles up as an extra stunt accessory. Perforated cut outs allow tracks to be integrated for even more variety. If your kid rather keep the box, then get ready for a shock: You can actually fit all the pieces back in the box for storage. I know, right?Overall, this is example of Mattel heading in the right direction. We’re having a lot of fun with this track. Agree with the 6+ age range, there’s no way my 4 yr old could have followed the instructions. Heads up it takes up about 4’ of space on the floor and the motor you need to make it do the loop is really loud. I’m not totally sure I’d but it again knowing all these things but it sure is fun.grandson loves itI bought one of these a while ago for my boys (4 and 6). It is a great value Hot Wheels starter set... containing 2 launchers, a loop, 2 bends and quite a few pieces of straight track. The track, and particularly the connectors are very sturdy so you don't get any bending at the joints like you did with older track. The only thing that's missing, in my opinion, is a gravity clamp, which used to be a feature of old Hot Wheels sets. There are a couple of downsides... the first being that you only get 1 car in the set... the second being that the connectors are a new format and therefore not compatible with older Hot Wheels track... The new track can be used with old track using the old connectors though. Edit - I discovered that if you turn the new connectors upside down, they work with the old track... and they are far more sturdy than the old ones!Overall an excellent introduction to Hot Wheels, or as an addition to your kids collection.Love it because my grandchildren just get so much fun from it. At 50 watching two little children take such joy from a simple thing is wonderful and of course takes me back to my youth when these things were big news back in the early 70's.In reality its not made to last but there is something timeless about letting cars scoot down a track and jump off the end. The bibs have their favourite cars for each task and it's all serious stuff. I have the fastest one because of course because I don't play fair and lubricate the wheel shafts....There is a kind of launch thing that you put your car into and then press and release. This can also be set up to go off automatically if you configure the track right. The grandkids don't bother with it too much. They - like me 40 years ago like putting one track up high and letting cars shoot down it from different heights. For that you will also need to buy a clamp so add another tenner to your budget.Overall a simple toy that in these days of computers and tablets is still as fascinating for small children as it ever was.Once you've got the batteries and it is big ones, this is the most amazing kit to build with. It was fun for young and old alike - and the car provided with it (only one, you really need two) was so fast. It was versatile too, so the track could be built to provide different experiences. Hot wheels is a hit it with our family, and the track does link well with the other sets.I could play with this all day, but sadly I bought it for my boys who insist on the track being changed ever ten minutes. Because of this I still dont know which of the hotwheels batmobiles is the fastest around the loop circuit! The change hotwheels have made to the power is good, it allows more flexibility with your track design. I would like to see a version I can plug into the wall though as although good quality batteries do last a long time with this, they dont last forever.I was 'top uncle' for buying my 4 year old nephew this for Christmas. Way out of his age range apparently but didn't matter as it was only me and his dad that played it all afternoon. Loads of fun - got extra hot wheel cars from pound stretcher - get flatter ones as the cars that stand taller can get a little stuck...
