The case is what I expected. It is a very sturdy case and you can likely sand on it as it will support up to 660 lbs. (note that this is a static load, you can't jump up and down on this thing). The case is hard but not inflexible and and the shell on the outside is not smooth, it feels like it has fibers in it. I do believe that the pattern on the outside helps distribute the load, protecting the cello inside (specifically the bridge). The padding is adaquate, and as you can see in the pictures the case relies on a u shaped padded block to fix the possition of the cello in the case and this can be adjusted up or down somewhat. It may be able to seure a 3/4 cello, I don't know for sure, but nothing below this. The lip of the case also has a u shaped lip which should give good protection from water, though with out some form of seal it will not be water tight. This case is a suspension type so the pads in the case keep the cello from touching the sides. the only concern I have is with the bottom of the case. Since the pouch where you can store sheet music is located right under the cello where it bulges out. The gap here is not much probably around a quarter of an inch, so if you plan on using this pouch then be aware that you are using this gap and do not want this sheet music pushing on your cello. There is a small pouch for rosin and other small things under the neck, the bottom part of the cello rests on pads on the bottom and another pad that pushes on the tailpiece. There are two bow holders that secure the bow with a zipper. One thing to note is that when you shut the case, it is possible to shut it on the clasps. This is easy to do on the ones to the back of the case. Though in the listing I saw the case was pictured with the straps for the back and the handle. It did not come with these. The both handles are of nice material, but I am not sure how durable they are. wheels work fine and the case can stand on its own, and the lid will stay open if you open it.pros- light- strong- durable- adjustable- Price?cons- pouch reduces clearance for cello- spartan interior- exterior may not be uv resisant?
